11:20 am - Welcome?

Hi Guys,

Just found this community, which is good, because I was hoping to find an Aus Christians group here! Actually, was hoping to find one from Tasmania, but Australia will do for a start, I guess!

Anyway, I'm from Hobart, Tassie, and...well, starting to get back on track I guess you could say. I was raised in the church, but I've spent quite a few years focussing on everything else in life, and not really giving God everything He deserves.

So I've got a bit of travelling to get through, a few issues to sort out, but I'm sure we'll get there.

So, nice to meet you all!

Hello All!

I've just joined the community and wanted to give you all a big hello! I'm from perth WA, and just love to help people out, so if you need some help, come find me! I'm excited that the nation of Australia is doing their part to show Jesus to the world, and I want to honour everyone of you for the things you are doing, or will do. Remember, the small things count as well! God bless!

9:57 pm - Young Adults

Hey guys,

I don't post in here much, or maybe even at all.. but recently our church has found a huge hole where the young adults are concerned. As far as, we run a youth program, and we have the older guys who have their church things.. but the age group of 18-24 year olds, not married.. seems to be a bit of a hole where we are looking to meet people, but too old for youth.

I'm meeting with my snr Pastor about it on Tuesday, jsut to run some ideas past as far as a monthly social event at least, where we can invite our non-christian friends too as well. I think this is a good start before we can get something more regular.. we only have about 10 or so young adults at the moment..

So what I want to know from you guys is..

What Young Adults programs do you have in your church?
In your experience starting from small numbers, what works?

I'm thinking, monthly movies, bowling, tours, dinner.. coffee and cake etc. I think it would be great to be able to build relationships this way!

Thoughts appreciated. :)

9:24 pm - Unity in Diversity: celebrate multicultural Australia with a picnic for peace

[permission to repost - spread it to all Melbourne people until Sunday!]

A bunch of my friends are involved in organising this. I obviously can't be there, but can everybody who is able to, please go for me...

Unity in Diversity: celebrate multicultural Australia with a picnic for peace

Frustrated about racism and violence in your beautiful country? Wondering what to do? Come help us celebrate and keep a vibrant tradition of peaceful multiculturalism alive!

A peaceful celebration of multiculturalism is planned for this Sunday in Melbourne, beginning with music and speeches at the State Library on Swanston St in Melbourne's CBD, then a festive walk to Treasury Gardens where families and individuals from all backgrounds and all walks of life are invited to a Picnic for Peace.

EVERYBODY IS WELCOME regardless of their heritage or religion, whatever their background. We hope people at the picnic will get to know a stranger and share a meal with them. Our motto is 'be a friend, not afraid'.

The timing is deliberately to coincide with the threat of continued violence in Sydney and we hope to have a few minutes of silence to send good thoughts their way. A similar peaceful rally and picnic will take place in Sydney, organised by United Against Racism (1pm at Sydney Town Hall, followed by picnic at Belmore Park near Central from 3pm).

Date: Sunday, December 18, 2005
12pm: Meet at State Library, Swanston St, Melbourne, for speeches and music.
1pm: Festive walk to Treasury Gardens. Participants are encouraged to bring musical instruments and their dancing shoes.
2pm -- 5pm: Picnic for Peace. Bring a picnic meal to share, an open heart and hope for a multicultural Australia.

About Unity in Diversity

We are an unaffiliated group of individuals from a variety of backgrounds who have come together in response to the recent events in Sydney. We have no political agenda or membership and we welcome participation by all groups who are willing to put aside political, religious and ethnic differences to embrace cultural diversity and harmony. We stand for peace, love and unity and believe that a harmonious multicultural Australia is possible.

More information: http://www.unity-diversity.org

Pass this on to everyone you know! It's so important at this time to counter negativity with light and love.

1:12 am - Australian Dog Community.

Hi there. My name is Naomi. I've recently started a livejournal community for Australian dog owners. This is not specific to animal welfare, but I hope that it may be a springboard for local community cohesion concerning animal welfare. It is also a place where people can share pictures of and stories about their dogs as well as potentially discuss local animal issues, including laws, fostering and animal transportation. If you feel you may be interested please join up by clicking here: dogs_australia

___zoeee Hey guys, i'm new here i'm Zoe, 17 from Sydney.

I've always been Christian but after Primary School i fell into the crowd of non-practising Christians.
My best friend was a deeply faithful Christian, and before he passed away December 5th last year he
wrote me a letter saying he believed in me and asked me to turn to Christ for help while he's gone;
but he wanted me to make the change because i wanted to.
That was about 10 months ago and it's taken me all this time to get to the point where I want
to learn more about Christ and have a deeper faith to help myself.

I'd love to meet new people so feel free to add me!

10:56 pm - Hi Guys

I've never posted here before, so hi I'm Sarah and well I just wanted to share with you guys my night.

I started a leadership training course today.. and well for the first time I started journalling what God as been speaking to me about. God is just amazing. The more I wrote, the more he spoke to me like never before. I've never seen God move like this in my Christian walk.

People have always said, writing stuff down, journalling etc is a great method.. but i've never really given it a chance. So I'd like to encourage anyone to do it! Its so great, just tonight he's really helped me deal with a problem thats been stirring in my heart for awhile.

Thanks guys,
God Bless!

1:13 pm - New Community-- Prayer For India!

Greetings one and all,

This community is being established for those who desire to pray for India, have a heart for India, who are Indian (living anywhere), are missionaries in India, or just want to check out what God is doing in that large region. The purpose of this community will be cultural exchange between regions of India (anything from Divali to Desi food recipes to religious/cultural study to Bollywood), understanding, keeping up with news and needs of India, and correspondences between all affiliated with India in some way.

I look forwards to seeing what God will accomplish as we all gather together with one purpose.
--- all welcome to join ---

++will be cross-posted++
